Under pressure...

Bad bloggers!  It's been a month and a half since the last update. working from oldest to newest.

First was our "Birth Class" which was more of an orientation to the hospital and labor/delivery.  It was nice and did educate us to our options which led to some questions for the OB.

We celebrated Mother's day by going to Baby Faces in Crowley with Kelli's Mom & Grandma; got some good pictures although he kept his arm and one foot up over his face for almost the entire session.  I was skeptical of the process but the pictures do not do it justice, sitting there watching Aiden breathing/swallowing, stick his tongue out, and blinking was amazing.

The next weeks flew by between me dealing with my companies transition to it's new Chinese owners (10 hours a day of trying to understand Chinese-English is rough) and Kelli dealing with end of school, graduation, sudden heat wave and her blossoming baby belly....

Bump in the night!

We were suddenly at the baby shower! And thank you to everyone that came (despite the ridiculous heat!) or sent presents.  Fifi, Mawmaw & Grammie ya'll did a great job, thanks again for hosting!  It may be a little tacky but here's a picture of Aiden's haul!

Next was my birthday weekend which I celebrated with my birthday buddy Jessica Dees and friends.  It was a blast had some great Mexican at Coyote Blues and watched Molly Ringwalds at the Varsity.  It also happened to be my first on-call weekend so we stayed in BR just in-case I needed to make an emergency trip to the plant, so we had a joint celebration with Kelli's mom who's was a week away.

Finally was the start of the weekly OB appointments this past Tuesday and the first didn't go quite as plan.  Kelli's blood pressure was 147/90, too high and the OB decided to admit her for 24hrs for observation; and the possibility of inducing if it didn't come down by Wednesday.  Our overnight bag was packed, but still in Rayne, while I was still making my way across the Atchafalaya.  Luckily, we have an awesome Godmother in Fifi who was able to stop by our house, pick up the bag and some other items and met Kelli at the hospital.  On my way in I put my work on alert on why I would not be in the next day and possibly the next week.  Luckily it was all a false alarm as Kelli's BP dropped down to an acceptable level by the next check, but still had wait 20 hrs to be released as they were also doing a test for preclampsia (it involved a 2-liter bottle, tub of ice, and a funnel in the bathroom).  We're all back home and Aiden is still in utero, Kelli has been put on modified bed rest and told to cut as much sodium as possible.

In the end I like to think it was a pretty good experience as we got a kind of test run of the hospital, with one side affect of Kelli currently seamstressing away her own custom hospital gowns, complete with Velcro on the back to reduce accidentally moonings and snaps on the shoulders to accommodate feeding.
